The first race of a Star Wars weekend double, this was the May The Fourth Be With You event. As always the atmosphere was really friendly and non-competitive, something I really like about these events as their is no pressure to race - a run for enjoyment. The route was safe, well marked and the turn around points marshalled and clearly signed. The course was a 3.2 mile lap out and back along the Wickham Line near Fareham in Hampshire. There were some nice views of the River Meon and the last remaining bluebells of the season. The format was the same as other OTW events do as many laps as you like within the 6 hour time period (1 lap to get your medal). At the end of the lap there is a well stocked refreshment table to refuel and a local mobile coffee shop provided pre and post race warm drinks. I opted for four laps - half marathon distance - and the encouragement from the volunteers and runners meant the laps went really quickly.
