Pros: - The start at Preston Park is really excellent. For those of you considering booking next year, I advise using an American Express card. Doing so provided me with entrance to a more private area with smaller queues for the toilets, bag collection, and entrance to the corrals. - The second half of the race is flat as a pancake. The first half is not. - Brighton is a really great city. Bar some pretty strong headwinds, the weather was pretty ideal. - Good, supportive crowds. - Sea views for most of the race. Cons: - I understand the environmental concerns, but paper cups are not appropriate for a race of this distance. This led me to carrying my own water bottle for most of the race, which is far from ideal. - Being forced to collect your race number from an expo rather than being sent in the post will eternally annoy me. - Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but given the above, it felt pretty expensive... - The route wasn't for me. Lots of stretches where you'd run down a long, straight road and then turn back on yourself. This is particularly bleak in miles 20-22 where you're in a remote industrial estate, exposed to the winds and with no crowds there to galvanise.
