← The Big Half

My first time at the Big Half, a big event in the lead up the the London Marathon. I found the start process a bit crowded and confused with bag drops closing early meaning it was hard to get there by train so it was a drive and tube job. There was a long cold wait in the start pens and it seems to take a long time to get a across the line. My race was nearly over within about 1K, as i was caught up in one of the many balck bags that people had been using to keep warm was rolling across the road, maybe a better option of bin could have been used or marshalls collecting them by hand! The race was good, aid stations in tbe right place, although the tunnel was very hot and a water station when you come out would have been great. Support was good but quiet in places, but the weather may have played a part in that. I would say that it would’ve been nice to have a final distance to go marker near the end so you knew how close you were to the finish line for that final push. The procedure from getting your goodies bag to medal to bag collection was slow and needs to be much slicker in future. Overall a good day with a new PB and one I will look to do again.
