Great points: - Start of race - you were allowed to choose on the day the pace you wanted to run at, and all participants were through the start quickly. Very efficient. - Pacers - I haven't done a half before with this many pacers! There were 2 for each finish time at 1:30/1:40/1:45/1:50/2:00 plus more - just meant it was really easy for people to run at a goal pace - Flat course - definitely a consideration if wanting a PB - Signposting - the course was incredibly well-marked with mile markers, arrows, water station and toilet markers - you basically always knew where you were going and for how far you had run - Marshalls - not only were there countless of Marshalls at the start/finish and throughout the course, they were all really friendly and encouraging - so thanks to them! - Toilets - this race seemed to get the number of loos about right. Of course there were queues before the race, but these went down quickly and there was even toilet paper!! - Race pack - great t-shirt, loads of goodies - Getting there - really easy by train Not so great points: - Lack of road closures - whilst some roads are completely closed, many are not. This was only really a problem in the first 3 miles of the race when the trail of runners was still quite dense and so fitting on to a pavement was a struggle-just a little frustrating having to alter your pace because of lack of space. Also parts of the course run through the town centre/down residential streets with parked cars, and so it's easy for people to get in the way! - Water stations - only the last station had water in bottles, the rest of the time the water was handed out in plastic cups, so unless well-practiced, it's very difficult to drink from these whilst running! Overall really well organised and good value for money, a great course for a PB although prepare for lack of space at the start.
