Second time I’ve done this race, since it literally cuts through my back yard, theres no excuse not to! The race (and summer version) have been taken over by new organisers and i was really impressed. Only slight pain is registering either day before or on morning of race in person. I like to be organised and have less to think about on race day, packets in post is preferable. The reason they do it in person is because the chip is an ankle tag. The race is point to point and i parked up at the finish where a really slick bus system to the start was in operation and no cost. Really easy process. The course is great, one i run on daily, well marshalled and aid stations well stocked with water, sweets, cake and energy drinks/gels. The last 3 miles is out and back, nice to see other runners and give/receive encouragement. At the finish there was a great medal, really generous goody bag with loads of food in and lots of cake at the finish line. To top it off, photos are free to download which is always a massive bonus! I had the privilage of running with my best mate on his first H/M, so that made for a great day! Really well organised race and a no-brainer for me as its so local. Great atmosphere too.
