A lovely and friendly race on the tow paths along the Grand Union Canal, with one road crossing although the traffic was held for us at the time. The course was very muddy and nature did make it a little tricky to navigate around puddles at times, but it was a very well organised race and the runners really seemed to look after each other on the route. Not being local to the area, it was worth the travel to get away from the usual road races in London. Four water stations on the route with water in cups, and the last two stops also had jelly babies. They were happy to fill up my running bottle at each stop. The majority of the route is flat with just a few bridges to cross over, however the the last mile into the park is entirely on an incline. With the recent rain the finish stretch was like a muddy ice rink which was interesting... The start area is a fair walk (or bus ride) from Uxbridge station but walkable, and at the finish Watford station is around the corner. Easy to get to from London for a 10am start. The only downside is it's not quite a half marathon, it's 21 miles, so if you're a stickler for distance or want your watch to record your new PB, be ready to do an extra bit after the finish!
