← Rockingham 10

This was the last ever day of road racing at the Northamptonshire speed circuit, it’s been purchased by a car auction company, and it’s a real shame. This course is perfect for PB’s, I took over 3 minutes off my time, and whilst it’s a flattish profile, it does you good to know you can run quicker. On arrival the car park is well sign posted and huge, from there a walk into the stands and then through the tunnel that leads into the pit lanes. Registration was in the garages, and painless, they provided your race number and chip. The pacers were introduced and then the races were led out for individual starts, 10m, 10k, 5k. This was a really good way of doing it and avoided any confusion or overcrowding. A quick out and back, then 3 loops involving the main raceway and the infield comprised the 10m, drinks station practically every mile, although late on a couple ran out of cups and closed up. The medals from what I could see were identical but with different ribbons, and a funky medal it was too. All in all a well organised event which was designed for PB attempts, and it’s a shame it’s gone. Well done SBR events.
