← Race to the Tower

I booked to run non stop . You have to pay to park your car at the finish and pay for the shuttle to the start. The cost is quite a lot so with these add ons it all mounts up. The coach to the start is seamless with people having their breakfast or a last minute sleep. The race HQ is spacious and bag drop is well organised . There are vendors selling drinks, food and running goods. It's a great atmosphere with different start times and ground settings off separately. There's music which adds to a party atmosphere. The race itself is very well marked and checkpoints are around every 10 km. these are really well stocked, have toilets and music and chairs and the most enthusiastic Marshalls. The Marshalls become more enthusiastic as the night draws in. They offer to make you soup at 11pm and one marshal lent me his head torch as mine died which was very lovely. There were some road crossings and it would have been nice to have had Marshalls here went it became dark as the filed spread out and seemed quite isolating. The scenery was outstanding . At half way some runners were camping , myself and many others sat down to eat a hot meal then went back out again for the second marathon. Signage was great telling you distance and also how many km til next checkpoint which was great to keep you going. The finish was all up hill and tough which was a little demoralising as you always want to finish strong. Regardless of whether you did non stop or camped and did the second marathon the next day you all received the same medal and ribbon. I would have been nice to have a different ribbon for running non stop
