I got a place through the ballot. As a non cyclist I trained and prepared for the distance. What I had prepared for was the bad weather.,the organisation was second to none and it worked seamlessly, even sending last minute emails about cycling in the bad rain and how to handle the change in weather conditions. The aid stations were very well stocked and spaced apart. The Marshalls did a great job on the route however many cyclists forgot it was a sportive and put the Marshalls and others lives in danger. There were some serious incidents and cyclists were more concerned about going up leith hill or box hill than the safety of themselves and others or the dignity of the rider receiving CPR at the roadside. Marshalls would try and slow people down on the very sharp descents to no avail. These riders should be pulled from the sportive . Perhaps a flag system similar to motor racing should be used . Equally when we were held at leatherhead due to a Marshall being hit by a cyclist , many were just concerned about getting through. As a runner the mentality of this cyclists was quick shocking and made my experience of what should have been a great achievement rather negative. Green park was great finish location and it was easy to travel home with the bikes afterwards, everyone was very helpful. The medal was amazing and I love it but a t shirt would have been great too as it is truly an achievement to complete 100 miles
