← The Enigma Three Lakes Challenge - Willen Lake

I booked a short break in Milton Keynes and then found out that Enigma Running had a series of events on during the time of my stay so I thought it would be an opportunity too good to miss. I had never run in a small event as this before but prompt replies and helpful emails put my mind at ease. The day was very simple and minimal fuss. Meet up at the café, chat with the organisers and other runners and get your number. About 5 minutes before the start time we all made our way to the start, drop you bag under the gazebo, place your race nourishment on the table and go. The course was a short loop then 9 Laps of Willen Lake, each lap was supposed to be 2.9 miles but due to a broken foot bridge a small diversion was used which added approx. 100 meters to each lap which adds up after 9 laps. This was of no fault of the organisers and only happened a few days prior to the event so no chance to change the route. I found it easier to concentrate on the number of laps remaining rather than the number of miles remaining. At the end of each lap you could have your own refreshments or the organisers handed bottle of water if required. Great encouragement from the support crew who also counted down the laps. A low-key event and plenty of room to run your own pace. I loved it and will sign up for more events with Enigma Running.
