← Mud Monsters Run

This was my first mud Monsters event and I must admit I was a bit apprehensive at the start seem to be a lot of people that had taken part in lots of these events and I felt a bit inadequate. The race started with a warm-up in different time zone pens and then off we went Ova some bales of hay. Where there was a guy laying injured which filled me with trepidation but went on to really enjoy the day. I run with a group from my local fitness club asked fitness and we had a great time lots of laughs and believe me lots of mud. We did the 10K route it seemed to go on forever and ever you don't really do a lot of running it's mainly struggling through muddy water and taking on various obstacles. if you look at the obstacle and feel it's too hard for you you don't have to take part you can just walk around but most of us had a good go and gave a good account of ourselves. Lots of mosquitoes due to the Muddy Waters that we were clambering through Sawston absolute beautiful butterflies in amongst the hedgerows and Nettles. The marshals are really good giving you encouragement and instructions as you go round got stuck several times in the mud didn't think I was ever going to get out but other friendly runners call you and get you out of the mud everybody wades in and helps each other. I was really exhausted at the end absolutely smothered in mud and soaking wet I had a really great day. Picked up a mud Monsters t-shirt at the end. The main problem is trying to get clean at the end of the race there is some small hose pipe type shower things but with really big queues and a couple of changing tense gave the showers and Miss just dragged All Me Rotten muddy closed off and stuck a pair of joggers and a T-shirt on for the ride home. A note to any potential runners do not stick you running shoes in the wife's washing machine afterwards and block it all up with pebbles and mud and twigs it doesn't go down very well lol
