This is the 4th time I have raced the Last Tri, always a good finish to the race season. It was a new bike course this year, an out and back that was undulating but not with the 5 mile hill of the old bike route. The route was longer than advertised, nearly 18 miles but a good route for a TT or road bike. The run was to be a two lap route but unfortunately the marshal on the pool misunderstood and sent the first few runners around the pool twice, the decision was then made to change the route for everyone in the middle of the event! This meant a single full lap with two laps of the pool, with a total run distance short of the 5K, around about 3.1 K at most. This was disappointing at a number of runners had taken it steady on the first lap in order to push on in the 2nd lap. This did put a dampener on what is otherwise a pretty decent event and one a group of us will do every year as our final tri of the year. The organisers made the offer of £10 of next years event which we will be taking up! Give it a tri, I am sure this year was a blip, it is a really beginner friendly event if you are up to the extra miles on the bike!
