This is an old race taken over and renamed. The drive from my house was 1:20 minutes away so I was a little tired. Got to the huge cabin and lovely volunteers had hot coffee & hot chocolate, cookies and Tim bits( little donuts) it was nice and warm inside. The weather was cool, felt colder as in Wednesday it was +33. I saw lots of trail friends so that was nice. Just before 9am we all went outside to hear the race rules. I was surprised we didn’t sing O’ Canada 🇨🇦 nearly all the races I go to we sing that. The nice thing the new race directors did was to have us run the old race the other way around, now that I loved. The aid stations were about 6km apart I think I counted three. I didn’t look what they had as I didn’t stop. I love this course as I would say it is 85% single track. One river crossing and to small roads to run on. The course measures just shy of 26km. I ran the 25km looked at my watch and though hum! 🤔 we are going over. I kept running lots of little twist and turns no sound of the finish line. That was the hardest part wondering was I getting close to the end. I think they should have had music at the finish to boost you on! All in all this race is a 10/10 highly recommend it to runners who love to have a fast race!
Thank you so much for the review, Grace. We are happy you had a good time and we will use this information in planning for next year. The distance comment is a surprise. Other people we asked stated it was bang on or slightly more, but we will definitely take a closer look at our measurements. - Phoenix Trail Races
