The race start was at 9am and so I arrived an hour before that at 8am and parked up at the event car park. It was a bit of a treck to the start and registration. I collected my race number with ease and was able to leave my bag in the registration tent. While I waited for the start they brought round home made fresh energy balls and there was free tea and coffee. The weather was terrible with heavy rain and strong winds, which made a tough course even tougher. The route was an absolute cracker with a mix of trails taking us across fields with amazing views and through spooky woods. The aid stations were well stocked with lots of goodies both sweet and savery. The route overall marked pretty well but in places it was a bit confusing and I went off track a few times but luckily back tracked quickly when I’d realised I’d gone wrong and was soon on the route again. At the finish we were given handmade wooden dog tags as our finishers medal and a vegan hotpot with a thick slice of bread which was delicious. This was a fantastic run and on a sunny day it would have been even better.
