Hull Marathon - what a brilliant weekend. Organisation was first class. Marshals were awesome and local support was fantastic. Race numbers were collection only. On the Saturday there was an expo which had a talk by running legends Jo Pavey, Steve Edwards and running group ‘Fit Mum & Friends’ founder Sam. It was an honour to hear these inspirational people talk. There was a super pre-race atmosphere. Race had marathon, half marathon and relay options. There was also a fun run so this catered for all abilities. It started outside KC Stadium. Route saw runners head though city centre, along the front, through dockyards and streets, across the iconic Humber Bridge before returning back over the bridge, through an athletics track before the finish inside the magnificent KC stadium. Crowd support was amazing with so many locals encouraging participants and handing out sweets and water. There was a noisy atmosphere at the finish line, inside the stadium. Route was scenic in places, fairly flat but had a couple of little ‘bumps’ to run up. There were nice, fast sections also so I’d say it’s a pretty fast course if you tackle it right. Finishers were rewarded with a solid medal, nice tech shirt & decent goodie bag. There were food outlets, massage options and medal engraving available which was nice. It was lovely to see many runners stay and welcome home the other finishers. In summary - Unforgettable day. Great value, brilliant crowd support and awesome marshals. Add stadium finish and a run across the Humber Bridge and it was the perfect day. I can’t recommend this race enough. Thank you for an amazing weekend.
