I completed this race with my husband and our daughters (10 and 13). We all loved it. The weather was terrible, but we just accepted we were going to get wet and muddy, and it was great! So, when you book you can pick your wave time, ours was 11.45am. They advise you to arrive half an hour before which we did - the website said there was no parking but you can park, its just limited, we were lucky! There was a warm up with someone from Pure Gym (it nearly killed me) and the guy starting the waves was from CBBC - the 10 year old recognised him anyway. The waves were started in mini waves which was great, so it was easy to get onto and over the first obstacle which was a slide. The route was marked by loads of little cones like you see on parkrun - it would have been good if these were a bit bigger or a bit brighter, they weren't always easy to spot, but as always I just followed someone in front! There's a good mix of bouncy obstacles, only a couple are repeated. We though the 10 year old might need help with some of them, but we were wrong, she'll probably do a Tough Mudder next!! It was a nice course, a couple of minor hills, but generally flat. It wasn't actually 5k, more like 4 and a half, but I think one of the obstacles was removed possibly because of the awful weather. The finish is a big slide into loads of foam, and we did have to wait to get on that. BUT - bouncy obstacle PBs for everyone!! We got t-shirts and rambo style headbands at the end. You can do it twice, and if the sun had been out we might have done it again. This is not a cheap race. We got early bird discounts and it was still over £50 each. That included race packs (stick on numbers and wristbands) posted, t-shirt and headband at the end. There are no medals and no chip timing (the teenager was not impressed by this), its just not that kind of race. No photos, hardly any marshals that we saw, and not quite the distance, BUT really good fun. Definitely do it, but not too seriously!
