← Express to Hornsea

Hornsea Running Festival was another excellent IGUN event.

For those who don't know the area, Hornsea is a sleepy seaside town in East Yorkshire. Nice setting for a race.

Registration and pre-race information was spot on..

Sun was shining and there was a good atmosphere.

Race had 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, 20 mile or full marathon options.

It started on the sea front and followed the Trans Pennine Trail. Course was flat so offers plenty of PB opportunities.

The out & back course meant runners could encouage each other during the race.

Water stations were every 3miles or so and contained cupped water and cola ect.

It was a very hot day so extra water stations might have been a good idea.

Marshals were brilliant as always.

Reward for finishers was a quality medal, big bar of chocolate and a bottle of beer.

IGUN are renowned for cake at the finish line. Today was no exception with plenty on offer. Full marks there.

In summary -

Had a brilliant time on the east coast. It's a race I will certainly look to do again.

The hot weather caught a lot of people out. On this occasion, an extra couple of water stations would've been welcome.

Thank you team IGUN and marshals for a really good day.
