This trail race was oranised as a replacement for the cancelled Gloucester Marathon/ half marathon.

Organisers kindly put on a free mini-bus to transport Gloucester participants to the race and back.

There was a good atmosphere in and around race HQ, with food outlets, massage tents, activities for youngsters and running merchandise for sale.

Race numbers were collection only. I got mine with minimal fuss but queues did form as race start time approaached. This resulted in a slight delay to the race. There was also very long queues for the toilets.

Baggage deposit/collection was straight forward, quick and easy.

This race had 10k, half marathon or full marathon options.There was also a 1km race so it was perfect for families.

Route was 6.55 mile loops on mostly decent paths. Course wasn't as flat as expected with a few hills here and there. There were also faster parts to enjoy. Sections of the course were on rough, bumpy ground but it's a trail race so it's ok.

Marathon meant 4x laps, with 2x laps for the half marathon and 1x lap for the 10k. I chose the marathon option.

Scenary was beautiful. The variety flat and hill on each lap kept it interesting, even on the 4th loop.

Water/feed stations were regular with I think, four on each lap. These contained bottles of water, enegy drink, banana, sweets and various things to eat.

Fair play to organisers because on a very hot day, they kept runners fully hydrated throughout.

Course support was very good at the start/end of each lap but dwindled out on course.This was a forest race so it was to be expected.

Marshals were awesome, as always.

Finishers recieved a nice, solid medal and protein drink powder.

Think a bit more nutrition beyond finish line would've been nice.

In summary-

This was a really good race and a great substitute for the cancelled Gloucester marathon. Full marks to the organisers.

The course wasn't as flat as expected, with a couple of hills to tackle.

It was however, very accurately measured.

Lapped races aren't to everybody's taste but the scenary made it ok.

Good atmosphere and a very enjoyable day.

Queues for toilets and number collection were quite long. Arriving earlier would solve this, I guess.
