← Marathon Prep, Dorney Lake

Billed as a marathon prep race this was exactly what it was! I had hated my solitary 20mile training run for my first marathon the previous year, so decided to take part as my 20miler for Brighton this year. 

The course was flat with laps of Dorney lake and feed stations etc so perfect for practising race day nutrition & hydration without having to carry it all. I also had a flare up of an old ITB issue so laps were good as I wasn’t sure if I could/would manage 20miles so could easily pull out at the end of a lap if need be. 

It was a well organised race although parking proved an issue and we barely made it by the skin of our teeth as ended up parking more than a mile down the road - also not great having to walk back after. Otherwise everything was smooth and not to be faulted. Would definitely do as marathon prep again!
