← Sir Titus Summer Trot

I’ve done Sir Titus Trot winter race so had an idea of what to expect.

Race takes place on canal tow paths. Terrain is good with nice scenery. It’s pretty flat apart from odd bump and a run up the iconic five locks rise.

Race had 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, 20 mile or full marathon options so caters for all abilities - I chose to do the marathon option.

Registration was simple. Pre-race emails kept participants well informed.

Race location & HQ were a few minutes walk from Saltaire train station. Absolutely perfect.

Baggage system was basic but effective.

Race was chip timed. Marathon course was an out & back, followed by another out & back (x2).

Nature of race meant local support was minimal. There was however a constant stream of runners to encourage and support each other.

Aid stations were regular, with cupped water/juice/coke & various items to eat. The main feed station at start/halfway point had a feast of home baked cakes and items to eat.

Marshals were awesome as always.

Finishers were rewarded with a quality medal, large bar of chocolate and a bottle of beer.

There as also the fore mentioned home-baked cakes for finishers to enjoy.

Thank you to Cath, Diane & team IGUN for a brilliant day.

In summary-

Great race, great location, nice scenery and a friendly, feel-good atmosphere.

Marshals couldn’t do enough.

Lovely medal, beer & home baked cake - what’s there not to love?

*** I’m returning from injury so power-walked the marathon distance.

Can I thank organisers Cath, Diane & team IGUN for their magnificent support before, during and after the race.

Can I also thank them for allowing me & a couple of slower runners to start the race early.
