← Triffic Trail 10k

Beautifully set in the lovely Trent Park, by Cockfosters station in North London, Triffic Trail is a race that will really test those glutes and quads.

What you don't get in medal form for finishing, is more than made up for on the course, marshall enthusiasm and organisation. My last effort was in 2014, and the goody bag was one of the best I've received however this bar was not reached this year, with the bag feeling a little empty in terms of sustenance. Nevertheless, everything else was spot on, from first entry to the park, race number pick up, warmup and so on.

The course itself is picturesque and very challenging! Starting on a field, making your way along a short distance of tarmac into the woods where you stay for the majority of the run. It is a relentless series of long ups and downs, culminating in "Everest" (nicknamed by the organising club, Trent Park RC). I definitely had a case of "Runner's Memory Loss" when it comes to this hill as it goes on FOREVER!

This is the last hill though, and then you're back on the tarmac shortly after for the meander back to the field to muster any energy you have left for the sprint finish. I'm not a watermelon fan but I was grateful to be presented with this juicy goodness on crossing the finish line.

The organisation of this event cannot be praised enough - from finishing and getting watermelon, to picking up your goody bag (with a nice technical tshirt) took less than 5 minutes, which meant I could go and sit down in some well earned shade (it was mega hot!). Also, I was surprised to see that my result (chip timed, I should have mentioned that) was ready and waiting by the time I got home - so within an hour, which is super speedy.

If you fancy challenging yourself, racing on a different kind of course then this is the one for you. Give it a try, enjoy the day and conquer Everest!
