← Swansea Half Marathon

Ive heard about this race from a few people and I've read good reviews and wanted to see for myself. Fast, flat, views of Devon and a fab course for pb's

My number was sent to me two weeks before the event so I could pack everything and not have to worry about picking it up.

I travelled from the Portsmouth area on the Saturday and apart from the bus journey from Bristol to Newport it all went well.

The race started at 9am and there were loads of marshalls about the town showing people where to go to the start. The pens were easy to find but you could easily change pen if you wanted to as no one checked.

The Welsh anthem was played and we were off. The route goes through the town and then back towards the start and along for about 7 miles before we turn back and go along the coast with amazing views of all around the Gower.

The weather was very hot and at mile 7 I decided to slow right down as it was 10am and getting hotter. I would of easily got a PB but it wasn't worth it. The marshalls were fantastic making sure people were drinking and handing out gels. The support from local people was amazing as well and the hosepipe was lovely.

I started and finished with a pacer going off inbetween. The encouragement was great and they motivated the runners around to keep going when it was so hot.

The finish was lovely and well supported. They were handing out water to runners who needed it and showed you the way to go and collect your t shirt, goody bag (which I didn't keep) and most importantly the medal.

This race Itself I can't fault. The only issue was the weather but that is out of anyone's hands. Would I recommend it? Most definitely and I've already commuted for next year's race.
