← Hazlemere Super 5

If you want to see this amazing scenic route for yourself check out my race video https://youtu.be/5V7Mofwcxfw

I hadn’t heard of this race before, I was meant to be busy but had a last minute change of plan, when I woke at 8am & searched to see if any races were on near me & this came up starting at 10am so I could make it.

I entered on the day which was really easy by filling in a 1 page paper form. They do take Pre registration via the Run Britain website which i’ve Used before for other races & know it’s a smooth operation. It was £12 in advance & £15 on the day which is really reasonable.

There was loads of parking available at the Hazlemere recreation ground & toilets in the pavilion.

There was a good pre race briefing given at the start line with safety information & it was explained the race was raising money for charities that were local & benifitted underprivileged children.

The route is entirely off road in fields & the surfaces change from dirt paths to gravel paths. There was no spectators around the route, it’s not that kind of race the course isn’t accessible to the public but there’s loads of marshals out there guiding you round easily & tons of enthusiasm from them.

the course was beautiful countryside & quite unique you won’t get many off road 5K’s like this.

There was one water station at about 3K with cups.

the finish was well supported with lots of cheering volunteers & spectators & the medal was really good quality. To be honest fornthe entry fee I expected a cheap generic medal but I was massively surprised that it’s a quality medal bespoke to the race.

a banana & bottle of water was given to finishers to for rehydration & a nice snack to reenergise.

the pavilion bar opened at 10:30 too so there was a good opportunity to have a drink & chat afterwards.

all in all this was a fantastic race I cannot fault it. It goes to show that simple & local can be as good as the huge races.
