The first time I’ve done this race and as it’s only 45 minutes from home , definitely one I will consider again.

Regestration was easy and emails sent out regularly regarding race day. The race book was all on line now so good to save paper but did need to keep looking back to clarify closer to the time.

Race day was easy to get to. Located at Derby County’s football ground, it was easy to get to and I was impressed with the ample , free parking. Normally, councils or businesses would use this as a money spinner.

Race village had few stall to look around and plenty of toilets as the Football ground open a few turnstiles.

There were plenty of pacers visible and on a cooler day, this is a potential PB route. Unfortunately, the sun can out in force and the temperatures rocketed. Along with the humidity & very open route, it was a day for digging deep and earning that medal.

Marshals & local support were very good. Most of the route was well supported. The only stretch without was along the river path from mile 9-12. This part did get a bit boring and was difficult to over take or drop off as it was narrow.

The finish area was well staffed and the tshirt & medal were definitely worth the hard work. In fact the medal is quite different so will be a good addition to the medal hanger.
