← Edinburgh Marathon Festival (half & full marathon)

This was the first time I have done this event, and I would recommend it and also do it again myself. However, there are a few things that need tweaking...

1) Having to pay £10 for a bus ticket to get you to the start and back is a bit of a cheek after an entry fee of £56

2) A half hour walk to get the bus after running a marathon needs looking at, the buses could've parked a lot closer to the finish

3) The route could take in more of Edinburgh. It is called the Edinburgh Marathon, but after the first 2 or 3 miles - you are no longer in Edinburgh...

The weather at the start took a turn from the forecast and was grey, misty and extremely cold. Luckily there were places to stay warm before the 10:00 start. The start ran through the city centre towards the Scottish Parliment buildings and into Holyrood Park. After this, you left Edinburgh. The route was coastal and basically and out and back. After a few miles, the weather improved and became really hot and sunny. Water stations were plentiful and extremely well stocked. Local support was great in places but also quiet in others. As you headed to the finish, the support was great, as was the atmospher within the charity village and finishers area. (Maybe not so if the weather was cold and wet).

I have been reading that some people got a water bottle within the goody box with their tshirt, but mine didn't. For £56, I would expect everything to be perfect. After a half hour walk to get the bus, uphill, it was a short journey back to the car.

I would do this race again, but stay over and make a weekend of it.
