I had high expectations of this race as people rave about it. I have to say I didn't love it. Maybe a personal thing but for me, I didn't like racing on roads open to traffic (where I am used to racing on closed roads in Ironman events), and the road surface for the entire 91km (yes, it's long) was absolutely atrocious. I felt like I was off-roading. The last few kms coming back into transition were actually dangerous. Rough, potholed and speed bumps to add insult to injury. 

The swim was long and the run was congested on the first loop - it takes in a very narrow towpath and it's an out and back loop - which, when you have 1,500 athletes on the course, is not pleasant and makes overtaking very challenging.

To summarise, I wouldn'tdo it again. I can't really fault the organisation but my personal opinion of the course itself wasn't a particularly positive one.
