Overall a great race experience. The venue is stunning and it has a local, friendly feel which you just don't get at any of the bigger name events. I registered on the day, plenty of parking on site, easy drive up from London. Logistics all very smooth.

Swim - Really enjoyed this swim, lake water was cool and fresh but not freezing, an easy to navigate course that allows for fast times. Buoys are massive and obviously no swell so very hard to miss, only thing I would point out is that on the way back into land the sun is right in front of you so best to also keep in mind a larger landmark such as a tree as it might be hard to see the swim exit arch.

Easy enough transition and off to the bike. The course is generally stunning and although fast at times it can also be very challenging with plenty of sharp hills. The only drawback of the course is that it's on open roads so I actually got stuck behind traffic a few times, let alone the whole safety aspect of it. This year was especially bad with the A1 closed so I expect other years to be a bit lighter, but be aware if your expectations are for a super fast time. Road surface mostly good. Top marshalls and course well signposted to never have to worry about taking the wrong turn.

Run was tough! The course along the dam is very exposed to wind and heat/sun but the worst part is the flies as its right next to the water. The run through the woods is lovely though with plenty of shade. Overall the run course is not too hard although undulating at times so not completely flat. Aid stations were reasonably spaced out, although some of the volunteers confused high5 for water which was a bit frustrating at the time as I needed the electrolytes due to the heat - they tried to convince me that it is indeed high5.. Coke would be a very welcome addition to the buffet!

All in all I would definitely do this race again and thanks to the organisers for a very fun Sunday.
