← Rock n Roll Liverpool

The entry fees were more expensive than I would have liked but this was because I only entered a few weeks before the event. I will enter nice and early for next year to take advantage of the cheaper fees!

Plenty of notification emails about race day info and the weather!

Went to the expo on the Friday to collect my bib and enjoyed a bit of shopping too. Was great to take in the atmosphere!

Hubby did the 5k which I spectated at- great that they had security and sniffer dogs checking bags but it meant I missed him finish as couldn't get there in time (his fault for being too fast and me having to push the pram!) That route wasn't ideal for specators moving around as you had to cross the course several times to get round!

Onto Sunday and it was my turn... met up with friends and went to baggage drop- nice and easy.

I don't think the event started on time though as it was due to start at 9am and it was well gone 9.30 before we moved! I presume this was due to staggered starts.

There was music on the course but this seemed to filter out a bit towards the end when you could really do with a pick me up!

Course took in some great sights and running through Sefton Park and Penny Lane was lovely adding a bit of shade from the sun. Plenty of water stations well marshalled along the course.

The last 3 miles along Otterspool seemed to go on forever- think I might need headphones for that but next year!

Course was a bit tight in some areas but we all seemed to make it roubd safely in my group.

Fantastic medal and great to get banana, crisps, haribo and drink at finish line. Seemed to be a massive bottleneck trying to get out of finish zone and into baggae area. So much so I missed getting a photo at the finisher boards. Baggage collection was easy again and then went to collect my free beer and listen to some music at the finish line festival.

Great atmosphere, very proud to have completed my first half marathon and will definitely enter again next year!
