← Very British Challenge

Having done an SVN race before, I knew what to expect.

What you get is a very friendly, well organised race with a big, solid medal and a well stocked feed station.

The events are fun, themed races. This particular event was British themed with runners encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

Registration was simple. Numbers were collection only.

Bagged was simple but effective.

This was a multi lap, 6 hour (or less) event consisting of 4.36 mile out and back laps.

Complete 1 lap or run/walk for the full 6 hours - the choice is yours.

Route was fast, flat and on good, solid paths.

I targeted a marathon distance so this would mean completing 6 laps.

Results were recorded in the old fashioned way, with no chip timing.

Each runner has a card stamped when they complete a lap.

It works perfectly well.

Nature of the course means local support was limited but the out and back course meant runners were able to support each other during the race.

There was a feed station at the end of each lap, which contains juice, cupped water, cakes, crisps ect.

Finishers recieved a big, beautiful medal and a well stocked goodie bag containing 3 large bars of chocolate, beer, crisps etc ect.

There was a vegan option finishers bag if required.

In summary -

SVN events are the friendliest races you will do.

Traviss and his team do a brilliant job.

There was a good atmosphere.

The out & back course might not be to everybody's taste but it is fast, flat and the 6 hour race means it suits all abilities and is perfect for those building up the distance during marathon or ultra training.

It is a race I would certainly recommend.

Thanks to the marshals and fellow runners for great support.
