Wow that was hot!!!

I returned to this race after running it in 2016. The registration process is easy, with race information and numbers being sent out well in advance.

The start moved this year to outside the Metropolitan Cathedral and for me this was a great move, the start was well managed in waves and we soon passed the Cathedral and were on our way in very hot conditions.

The new route took us past some beautiful buildings before heading into the park for the final 7k, the shade of the trees was most welcome! I really enjoy routes around Sefton Park and the supporters that were out were vocal and supportive, particularly in the 200 meters by the finish.

The water stations at halfway were well marshalled and well stocked with bottles of water, would have liked a sports cap bottle but that is only a very minor point.

The finish funnels were very well managed and after collecting a great medal we split into the funnels ordered by t-shirt size, plenty of stock by the looks of things so no danger of them running out of your size.

This is a really well managed and enjoyable event and one that will always be on my race calendar where possible, definitely one to take part in if you haven't already! Maybe just hope it's a bit cooler next year.....
