← Adidas Manchester Marathon

My second Marathon, and first time at Manchester.

The event was well organised with pre-event emails and a good website with info. On arriving at Trafford the night before, we witnessed the behind-the-scenes team setting up the signs, toilets and barriers so we could familiarise ourselves before the event.

We didn't need to use the bag drop as our hotel was by the start line.

Toilets were plentiful, but long queues at the block where I was waiting near the start pens (and the queues stretched across F pen, so maybe not the best place for them).

The race itself is on flat roads, and takes you through towns and housing estates in the area. Support is excellent, noisy, and generous with their sweets!

Water stations were plentiful although they just came up at you, I'd like signs 'water station ahead' so I know to pull in to get some. Disappointing to use gels that nobody uses, and something as the organiser I'd change next time.

Lots of switchbacks, which I love as I can look out for fellow club members both ways.

A great finish with more excellent support along the last stretch.

Seemed a long walk from the finish line to reaching the area with bottled water, but that could have just been my tired legs! Great t shirt and huge heavy bling!

Good event village afterwards although the queue to get out to meet family and friends was huge!

An excellent event. I'm not doing any more marathons (no, honestly!), but would highly recommend this one to you!
