← The Big Half

Thank you for a brilliant event.

Registration was easy and I loved that they offered discounts and incentives for the local communities and boroughs to get involved. This was one of the things that made the event really special. Many of my friends completed their first HM and they would not have otherwise done so.

The pre race information could not have been better, even with the terrible weather causing potential disruption.

On the day I arrived early and had no problem finding the baggage trucks and handing over my bag. (A great size and could fit a complete change of clothes)

There were so many toilets including some in the start pens- this was great and there weren't really any queues to speak of.

We set off on the route on time as expected. I actually really enjoyed it. I love London and the support, considering it is a new event and the weather, was excellent. There were busy parts and quieter parts as you would expect. I loved seeing the elites fly past in the opposite direction.

The route is generally flat and setting off in waves helped with the early congestion, so there was a great PB potential (I got one and so did lots of friends).

I think the experience for spectators around Greenwich was not as good as it was for runners, but for me it was well organised. I didn't mind the walk to pick up bags, medals, and find the family. It was good to keep moving.

Overall I really loved the event, the support, the marsals, the medal. I think the community feel that they tried to create helped to encourage new runners, which can only be a good thing.
