← Cancer Research UK London Winter Run

I have been a spectator at this event in the past, it is much better to be running than watching, if spectating you don’t have to walk very far to see the start and also the finish but wrap up warm, it has been very cold on the few occasions I have been at this event, it is called the Winter Run!

The organisation prior to the start is very good, entertainment and mass warm up with several winter characters for photo opportunities and multiple sets of toilets with minimal queues a few minutes away.

I started in the first wave, at the appropriate moment in Trafalgar Square the announcer lets you know which wave should make there way to the start funnel, which is a good few minutes’ walk away.

Once you start the noise from the spectators is fantastic, several people deep on each side of the course cheering you on the way.

The course itself is very flat but there are several U turns and 90 degree turns around street corners which is must be expected on a city run, these are not the easiest to navigate when running in a large group.

There was only one water station which I didn’t use, this was on the outside of a large bend approaching 5km.

Along the route there are several spots where you can high five a group of Penguins and Yeti’s, great encouragement from the volunteers along the whole course.

After you finish keep moving down the finishing funnel, you get handed your medal then an assortment of drinks and snacks rather than all the items in one bag which unusual.

I enjoyed the event very much and would defiantly consider doing this again.
