My 1st foray into Hertfordshire for this event.  I never look at race profiles or maps when I enter, I just take what I find. It was hillier than I'd imagined but they're only hills and only lasted for several miles!

Organisationally everything was smooth, although some hard standing underfoot at the registration tent would have been great; it was very muddy and even my drop bag was filthy when I collected it.

However, a great course, very quiet and picturesque which was a surprise but best of all, the fantastic marshals.  I'm not quick after a long leg issue so was very near the back of the field and yet the marshals continued to smile, clap, cheer and enthusiatically persuade us all.

The only issue I would have is the amount of litter that was left along the course; once a single gel wrapper had been dropped it seemed like open season for everyone else.  Runners should be told to take their litter home, to the next aid station or find a bin on route, or be DQd.
