I ran this in 2016 and really enjoyed it however it had undergone some changes for 2017 to accommodate the marathon earlier in the day.  The start and finish are now in the same location which was a bit chaotic as marathon runners were coming through the finish tunnel while the half marathon runners were trying to work round this to the start. 

The route is essentially an out and back through the city. There was good crowd support at the start but this dwindled along the route and so it lacked atmosphere when compared with the previous years. The final 400m was very poor - there were no barriers to separate the route from supporters / shoppers and so as runners were increasing their speed for the finish, shoppers were ambling across the road in front of them. 

Runners had been advised to use public transport however the trains were not prepared for the numbers and so runners were stranded on platforms due to overcrowding.
