A beautiful venue, but a very disappointing race experience. The swim was awful: extreme algae, smelly water, poor visibility and a cold mass start that felt unsafe. The bike course started and ended with gravel and stones; countless athletes lost bottles and some punctured. The rest was technical and windy. The run felt more like a trail, with narrow paths blocked by participants from all the multiple events. Toilets on the bike and run courses were very limited. Race-day communication was also poor and inconsistent, with repeated last-minute changes and instructions contradicting what had been communicated beforehand.
