← Outlaw Half Nottingham

Being my first ever half iron distance event I was somewhat nervous, could i make it? will i be last? surely i'm not good enough to be here. I needenlt have worried, this event is for all, from pros' to weekend warriors to the "what the hell, i'll give it a goers".

From the outset the instructiuons and details avaialble before the race were comprehemsive and clear. Accomodation in the form of camping next to the event was beneficial (can be noisy, so bring earplugs).

The pre-race breifing was both informal and good natured in humour, any last minutre nerves were certainly easing.

Straight into the event:

- the swim is great, well laid out, not too cold and plenty big enough to find some clear water.

- The bike course is good, not completely flat but cetaintly no alpine monster. It takes in a good amount of countryside and varies the scenery pretty well and the support on the bike course is brilliant. One word of warning is some of the roads have potholes, the last section in particular is like riding through a mine field so be careful for punctures.

- The run is pancake flat, well supported and and the feed stations are plentyfull.

and finally the finish chute is awesome, such a good cheer and lets you soak up the feeling for those last 20 metres.

All in all I would highly reccomend the event, great organisation & support.
