This was my first OCR and I really didn’t know what to expect, it ended up being brilliant fun but I’m glad I did it with a group of friends and that we only did the 5km! The start process was hassle free but it was a good job we left plenty of time for the cross country trek from the car park and for the queue to register. The race briefing/ warm up was fun and we set off on time just as the elites were finishing the 10km route and I was more than a bit worried by how exhausted they looked! Even on the 5km there was a huge number of obstacles (20+) and the organisers had really made the most of the location (running through lakes, muddy woods and hills). There were plenty of marshals throughout the course and even though some obstacles were challenging it felt safe. Due to nature of course pretty much the only support apart from the end was from the marshals and mountain rescue but the other participants were really supportive. I run and gym and found it pretty challenging and was tired at the end, the non runners in the group even more so but we all had a brilliant time and said we’d do it again. Got a really nice t-shirt at the end and decent medal, there was almost nothing in the goody bag and think it’s purpose was to keep your t-shirt and medal clean whilst you washed off all the mud!
