← Leeds & Liverpool Canal Christmas Cracker

I love an 'it's grim up north' event. Small and friendly with a great atmosphere. So about 200 of us assembled on the side of the canal on a freezing December morning.

5 different distances on offer, due to the weather forecast (snow and ice) the marathon course was changed to two half marathon loops to keep everyone within 3 miles of the start finish. Turns out wasn't to bad at all, a few patches of ice.

The races test you mentally and physically, you are not in a pack, there's no cheering support, just you, your legs and your head. The course is flat, straight along the canal. In places it's beautiful in places urban.

Loved it. Ran a marathon PB.

Will be back.
