← Gravy Pud Fell Race

Many of the races on Racecheck are road or trail based. Fell running can seem a little daunting, but choose your races and it need not be. In particular suitable footwear and check if full kit is required or not. Nothing complicated, it just needs to be right for safety.

Actually that was the only negative; the race briefing couldn't be heard by most the runners beyond the first few rows on the start line.

Registration was simple and in the pub with the race start/finish just down the road.

The first mile is broadly cobbled road and farm track before the main ascent up the hill (about 300ft in 0.5 mile). After that the route is a mixture of tracks, paths, a stream, a forest and a little more undulation before returning to the village.

If you're used to big fanfare starts and finishes then fell racing will be a shock of informality and a focus on the running rather than getting a medal at the end (you don't ).

This 5.5 mile route is varied terrain and the route is marked so no navigation needed. A great little race.
