🌊🚵 🏃🥈 What an incredible experience at MediTerra Malta ! From the moment the race started, the energy on course was just electric: the support, the cheering, the volunteers… everything was absolutely top-notch. The organization was impeccable from start to finish, and it truly shows how much passion goes into making this event special. But the race was just the cherry on top of what turned out to be three fabulous days in Malta with the family. 🇲🇹☀️ This island never disappoints — stunning scenery, warm people, good food! (Visit Malta 🙌)

A race not for the faint-hearted. Swim is a 750m sea swim loop (with an Aussie exit for the Olympic distance) with a shortish run up a flight of steps to transition. Bike course is brutal. Thought my MTB skills were good but this course nearly broke me. There are a couple of places where you have to carry your bike and several places where I got off to push my bike as I didn’t have the talent to ride. Don’t think I have ever been in a race where so many people DNF’d due to punctures. The run course is more of the same. Very rocky and you have to watch where you step as it’s easy to stumble. Due to the amount of energy I’d burnt on the bike course the run was just for survival! On the positives, the views are stunning and the race is well organized. There is also beer and food at the finish. I’ll probably enter next year but will be brushing up on my MTB skills!

Out in Malta I found sunshine, a warm, clear sea and a super friendly off road triathlon now under the Xterra brand umbrella. It felt low key, relaxed, well organised and offered a challenging but fast race suitable for beginers through to the Pro mens and ladies field.

The swim is clear, warm and takes place at the beautiful Golden sands day, also race HQ. The bike is fast with a couple of technical sections but easy enough for anyone to manage, the faster you ride the more technical a challenge it becomes. The run is on very good trail with lots of support out on the course, up a hill and back down in 2, 5km loops.

I would definatly recommend a visit, temps and weather were perfect for early season racing and the atmosphere was amazing.
