Parking was on the road to the car park so a 10 minute walk to registration. Registration area quite small and also contained the bag drop so a little muddled. The marshals were great though giving good info as to what was going on and what to do. Pre race briefing was good - maybe could do with something to stand on to make themselves more visible. The course is pan flat (the Olympic rowing venue). I guess it could get windy as it is quite exposed. Pacers provided at 5 minute intervals really appreciated that, very friendly and certainly something that helps me a lot. Marshals were excellent and plenty of water stops. Overall a great event and would be happy to race there again.

Great flat course that definitely allows for a pb run.

I've just got back from the Windsor Winter Half. I loved the fact it was at the Eton Dorney Olympic venue and the views were great. The run itself is 4.5 laps of the lake, which wasn't the most inspiring but the course it flat.

This course was beautiful. Probably one of the most beautiful looking courses I’ve done. It was completely flat with two water stations around the course, one at the start and one about halfway through and they hand out gel too. This course is 4 and a half laps, although i personally don’t like laps the views did help make it nicer. The marshalls along the route were great, there was this one lady just before the second water station who was absolutely a delight to pass. The medal was also lovely and there were hot drinks available as well as adequate water. Parking is quite good if you’re travelling by car. Would love to go back to Windsor to do runs whether it’s a race or just a training run.

This was my first Half Marathon and Dorney Lake was an ideal choice of venue! It is flat, traffic free, with pleasant nature all around, and on the day we also had the perfect winter weather - crisp, sunny with virtually no wind. The organisation of the event was good, with an easy registration process - even though a lot of the participants never heard of keeping to a queue... - and it started on time. There was a long wait for the last minute loo break, which meant I missed most of the briefing, but the course is incredibly easy to follow, and there were friendly and supporting marshals on very turn (a lot of them from the local Scouts, which I loved having been one myself - be prepared!). There were 2 water stations in the ~3 mile loop around the lake, so plenty of water in cups, which was a first for me - good practice for VLM! The loops may seem repetitive to some people, but I personally loved them - it helped make it through the tough last loop knowing how long there was to go! One bad marker, on that topic, was the KM signs on the loop - they were widely off the mark, showing about 4km less than the actual distance covered! I think they were from the preceding duathlon, covering a different distance - it really scared me at some point, thinking I wouldn't make the cut off! All in all a good race, with reasonable organisation in a fantastic venue - I would gladly recommend it.

This venue is perfect for setting a pb and if that's your main goal this event would be ideal. The aid stations were adequately staffed. I arrived early and managed to collect my number and timing chip fairly quickly though the start was delayed as people were still queueing to collect theirs at the planned event start time. The queue for the small number of portaloos was unsurprisingly long and the morning event that preceded ours had left them without water to operate the flush and this would be my only concern about doing another event with this organiser.

Bag drop was unattended at the finish, not secure at all. Guy giving race brief needed a megaphone and as usual the start was late as the queues for registration and the limited toilet facilities were extensive.

Overall, a good experience and I will be back to (hopefully) get another PB!

Awesome race, in a great location, was concerned about running laps but really enjoyed it and found it made pacing a lot easier. Only a few criticisms, not enough toilets (but seems to be as standard at all races at the mo), registration took a long time which meant that the race actually started late, also the exit road to leave the event was where we were running, so had to worry about cars coming up behind me on the last lap and also had to avoid runners when attempting to get out of the event. All are minor things that really wouldn't stop me doing it again or recommending it, just a few tweaks would make it perfect. Great PB potential as well.
