My first half marathon, I was happy that the route was as described but like others found the placement of the water stations baffling. Nearly halfway through and then the final one around two miles from the finish. A pretty hot day and I was pretty parched by the time I got to the second. I'd actually began to think I'd been misinformed that there was a second at all! The direction signage was fine but I was surprised to see there weren't signs at the split for the 5K, 10K and half marathon distances, just a marshal shouting out the split (and different races didn't have different colour race numbers) - I wouldn't be surprised if a few people went the wrong way on the day. That was in fact one of only two marshals that I saw on the route (apart from the people at the water stations), so not sure how easy it would have been to get first aid if you needed it. My wife did the 10K and similar to other reports found it came up short. It was her first 10K so she decided to find me and run with me for the last half a mile of my run. Finish was also a touch underwhelming, I wasn't expecting a ticker tape parade by any stretch but there wasn't even a finish line banner, just the timing mat to signify you were at the end. Other miscellaneous points: super easy to get to from the M4, so that was a bonus. Parking was quite steep although outside the organiser's control I guess. But factor in £9 to £12 on top of the relatively high race entry fee. Food at the end was welcome but limited choice (beef burger or halloumi burger) - I know these things are always subject to change but the pre-race blurb made it sound like there would be more choice. Toilets were a couple hundred metres from the registration/start but on the plus side as they were for nearby the coach park they were a decent standard and not a dodgy portaloo. The chip timing system worked well and got my result text to me within a minute of finishing. The beer at the end is a nice hook and I enjoyed mine later that night.

I signed up for this event, as I heard good reviews from friends about it. For the expensive entry fee (for a 10k), I expected far more than received - The course was woefully short (about 0.6 miles), very few marshals (although sign posting was clear), the water station was too far into the course (over four miles), and no finish line funnel which caused many to take different lines to the finish. The medal was also not good - Very poor design imo, and the same for all distances - not even separate ribbons. Despite the extensive food choice advertised, only burgers were available. Sadly it seems the event was ran with the lowest costs possible to maximise profits, but unfortunately this is often the experience when races are ran by event companies, and not running clubs. One to avoid in future, as with all events ran by AAT Events.

Lovely scenic route, fast registration but very disappointed that the course was not 10k as advertised. There was also an anti climax at the finish line, no one cheering you over and actually questioned whether it was the finish or not! Only one water station and very late in the course. Lots of stretches of no Marshalls and poor signage.

The Good. Running by the river was great. Smallish event so not too crowded. The beer! The burger! The actual people that were there were very helpful! The Bad Review mail sent out before the race. Had to sign up to two wierd website after (this one and one for the certificate). Insufficient and poorly spaced water stops in the half, need one early about 4 miles, keep the one at 6.5 and maybe another at 9 or so. No mile markers at all. At points the route was unclear. Spent ages running alone. Massive queue for the burger. Lack of other food options. No 'event' loos. Start/Bag drop not at same place. No sweets or gels or flat coke at the aid stations.

The course was not particularly well sign posted and there did not seem to be many marshals on the route. Unless you kept up with the main crowd you could end up running on your own with nobody else around. My friend took a wrong turn due to the lack of signage and ended up on the half marathon route rather than the 10k. The course was also not a full 10k, which was disappointing as I was trying to beat my previous run target.

I really enjoyed this event and loved the start process - with just small groups starting it meant there wasn't quite so much of a crush in the early stages. My only recommendation for improvement is a little more encouragement from the marshalls, some of whom were busy checking their phones when I ran past.

This was my first 10k race and I was horribly disappointed to find ithe course was only 9k, this meant that my partner who had made a special effort to support me arrived at the finish line 30 seconds after I did, because I finished 7 min earlier than expected. Pros: scenery and marshals were excellent, registration was quick and easy, very quick results text, post race beers were very welcome Cons: parking was very limited and quite expensive, 10k course was far too short, water station was at 7k, not 5k advertised, finish line not very obvious, huge queues for food and drink, food was not the pulled pork sandwich advertised.

Picturesque trail/track run which was fine but might get muddy if we hadn’t have had nice weather in the lead up. Very fast results service! Only criticism, but a serious one, is that there were only two water stations at 7 and 11 miles. Especially on a warm day, that was potentially dangerous for anyone who didn’t carry their own.
