Having done various FCR events before this was my first go at the Windmill Remembrance 10k. Over 2000 runners had descended on Lytham so parking was difficult despite me leaving plenty of time. The event village was packed as it was a glorious day and plenty of friends and family had come out to support. The pre-race brief and act of remembrance were very well staged and fitting for the event. The course was pretty much an out and back loop to Fairhaven and is very fast and flat for those after a PB although be warned that you can see the finish from a long way out and need to time that final sprint well. Superb medal for everyone with a lovely remembrance day theme, well done FCR.

Race number 20 of the year and I was lucky enough to be one of the 65 minute pacers for the second year running. FCR events generally have packed collection at the start which was pretty quick considering the numbers.
I got there at around 9.45 and parking was tricky. The event has gone up in numbers massively since last year and the main parking spaces near the windmill were full. We did manage to find street parking but it was quite a walk to the start/finish.
Before the start of the race I caught up with some other racecheck visorclub members and then there was a rememberence day tribute, reading of the last post and a well observed 2 minute silence and then the race was go!
Nice and flat course, perfect for PBs, out and back down main roads and coastal paths. Water station at around the half way point. By the time we got to the water station they seemed to be struggling getting the water to everyone and queues were building a little. I have noticed this happen at a couple of events recently but I believe this is down to marshalls letting FCR down at last minute.
Ran with a great bunch of runners and pacers and got a fair few people home with PBs. The end of the race was a bit chaotic as the medals/water/chocolate was given out at the registration tent and this was not clear. As such there was a big crush of people trying to get medals. FCR have acknowledged this and are going to improve this next year. I guess the rapid increase in numbers for the event impacted this a little.
Once again though an amazing FCR medal and a great event. I love being part of their running club!

Really enjoyed this event, parking was free along the prom near the start, Collecting race pack was easy.
Being a veteran it was nice to see s impeccable remembrance silence, a good race with Pacers and nice crowd with a mile to go along prom, the only downside was the issue of medals and water at the end , medals could of been issued at the finish line .
The medal itself is outstanding my favourite so far.

A great 10k with a lovely flat course meaning it has massive pb potential.
FCR events are always well organised and unlike some races are keeping their prices reasonable and their medals are always awesome.
Registration was nice and straight forward and I had no issue collecting my race number. The silence at the start was very fitting and before we knew it we were off. Race was run on semi open roads but marshals did a great job making sure everyone stayed on the right side of the road. Felt a little busy at times but this didn't slow me down at all. Out and back course and one water station at half way.
Pacers for all time abilities and the 55 minute Pacers were amazing, nice and chatty and bang on time - helped me get a new pb of 53.59! Little pockets of local support around the course with lots of cheering on the finishing straight towards the end. Only downside of the event was the handing out of medals and goodies at the end. Rather then being handed one at the finish medals were given out back near the registration desks and it was utter chaos. The organizers did apologise for this straight afterwards though and are looking to improve next year.
Overall a great 10k, well organised for the most part, fantastic pb potential and good value for money - the medal was huge! Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic setting for a 10k race event.
I really enjoyed this race event the marshals and organisers were awesome.
This race event is ideally for first time 10k runners or fellow runners looking for a new PB.
I will definitely do this race event in the future.
The only draw back was getting your medal at the end it was utter chaos.
