I did this today and immediately signed up for 2019. It's a triathlon in Windermere; it's beautiful and a fairly fast bike course considering where it is.

The swim is easy to navigate and the deep water start was good. The bike course was well-signed and is mostly a lap of the Windermere marathon (if you know the course) so it's great. The run was a little dull (5 loops near transition) but flat/fast. As a race, it was great fun.

Registration/transition were a little chaotic. The queues on race morning were what you'd expect but transition had no numbered racks and you just stuck it where you wanted. This meant people were giving themselves loads of room and they ran out of rack space! Numbers might have been a better idea.

The water station on the run, when it was 25°c + on thr run, wasn't enough. One table and a couple of volunteers stretched to the limit wasn't enough; especially when you had little cups only a quarter full.

I'll be back next year as the race itself is great. Hopefully a few wee issues are resolved for 2019

Second time I have done this race and must say it has been really improved, last year was good but goody bag, medal etc on the cheap side, this year swim cap was a good thickness not just one of the cheap thin ones.

also got high 5 bottle with energy drink and couple of gels in at registration which was a nice bonus, registration was nice and easy was open day before which cuts queues on the day.

The swim seemed quite a bit longer than last year and other Olympic graded events, I know it's the same for everyone but for people chasing a pb who have done the course before it spoils it a bit.

would have been good if every wave had identical swim caps too as a few people were panicking about being in the right wave as there were caps of all colours in each wave.

the setting for the race itself Is spectacular swimming in the biggest lake in England then beautiful bike course the run is around the outskirts of bowness and is 5 laps which gives families the chance to see you a lot, there has been great support on the run both years I have done this race.

Big thanks to the marshal at the end of the lake path he was fantastic, really encouraging 90% of the marshals were great other 10% looked like they couldn't be bothered being there.

will be returning next year as the organiser Ian really looks like he's trying to improve it, it really is a great event don't think you pick a better venue it is spectacular.

definitely one of the best value for money triathlons around and with a few tweaks could be an absolutely cracker.

A superb event that offers everyone from beginers to elites the chance to race in the Lake District. Its a scenic location and begins with a loveley swim in Lake Windermere at a very warm 18 degrees this year, a challenging but easy to follow loop of the lake on the bike, with a 5 lap run on mixed surface in the Glebe Park of Bowness.

The lapped run course ensures amazing support from the locals and signage and marshalling where perfect. The swim is set of in waves so no hectic washing machine effect, a great thing if its your first open water triathlon.

Local accomodation in the centre of Bowness would mean a short walk in the morning to transition and family can easily support throught the day.

Great little event in a superb and stunning location.
