Hi Spike. So sorry to hear this. I'm permanently moving this event to Broadsands as the sea feels like a safer option in terms of salination etc. After ten years of hosting the Wild Dart swim in the Dart, the event will have to change and morph in to something different- hence we will be rebranding it as a sea swim and aquathlon. The prototype took place at the weekend and it went really well. Just need to find a suitable name!

A really enjoyable one-way tidal swim. Safety was excellent. And the course was fairly easy to navigate with safety crew all in hi - vis. The event could be improved by having toilets available at the start & end. And transport back from the finish would have been helpful.

Hi Karen, There are toilets in the cafe at the finish which is on site and in Stoke Gabriel about 400m from the start, which we will highlight in the race brochure. But we will also look at adding toilets this year, if we can find a suitable location. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Vik, It's unfortunate we know, but we emailed all of our participants after consulting with Friends of The Dart and the harbourmaster's office. The sewage spill, which was at the Totnes end, forced us to move the start to Galmpton Creek, which happened in the week of the event. We emailed swimmers about the likely change of venue as soon as we had confirmation. We believe the new venue means we are less likely to be subject to change due to water quality, and we did this on the advice of the Harbour master and FOTD.

Thank you for organising this event. I think there needed to be toilets at the start. The surf rescue guys were helpful, encouraging and visible. I think distance markers would have helped me realise how far through the course I was but I am not sure if this is possible.

Thanks for your feedback. Last year, we were subject to the opening times of the cafe but we are looking to add additional toilets if this is possible.

There were other times I was not confident where I was going and had to stop to look around, More ribbons and signage would be good next time.

Our regular course marker is the best in the biz but occasionally our signs might get blown down or removed. We will add extra ribbon to the course this year, and some additional wrong way markers as a precaution.

I fell over on the run. I feel the route wasn’t great and I tripped over going downhill on a steep hill and now have an injury. The course wasn’t clear and marked correctly. However the only thing that was organised well was the swim.

Hi Molly, I'm sorry you fell over. It comes with the challenge of off road running, which was clearly marked in the race description.

My friend watched as all the swimmers set off from Steamer Quay and said it was quite spectacular seeing everyone swim off down the river. I will be signing up for next year.
