This was my first A2B event and I loved it! A great concept and a beautiful route! Things that let it down, it was meant to be15.5 miles it was in fact 16.4, the finishing process was not smooth - we stood around for a couple of minutes before the man scanning people out realised that we had finished despite us telling him.
It was my friends first event and it would have been nice for her to have been scanned at the time she finished and be presented with a medal, not have to ask! It might be an idea for the bibs to highlight distances so that the scanner knows.
The prerace briefing was non-existent, or if it happened we couldn’t hear it and we were only a few rows back. It would have been prudent for the email to tell you that you just followed the yellow signs, although it was obvious to me, it might not have been to other people. I would do it again, but it needs some smoothing out!

First time running the Wey Ahead - opted for the full 32k run. Pre-event information was good and provided everything you needed to know. Race number and chip time collection was easy with the start line a short walk from the registration area. As for the race itself - personally I had didn't have a great run at all but the route itself is very picturesque - had to stop a few times to take photos! The trail is a mixture of flat prepared path and natural towpath and cross field. It can be a uneven and rutted at times but it's trail run so to be expected. Not much support along the route and at times could not see a soul a long way ahead or behind but that just added to the feeling of appreciating the peacefulness of the Surrey countryside. Overall a very enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning and will likely do again next year.

A good course but it would have been useful to have had marshalls in a couple of places, especially towards the end of the race where both my sister and myself (separately) went over the bridge towards the town centre instead of along the river. The Guildford "finish" area could also have been marked a bit more clearly. However, the logistics of parking at Guildford train station and catching the train to Woking worked well and it was good having the staggered start.

We had a lovely walk on Saturday in beautiful surroundings, however it was a challenge for us to do the 25km and so when we realised we had another 2km to go it was a struggle and put an edge on the ending for us. It would have been useful to put up some km markers along the way as you do with other events.
We were surprised at how few entries there were and felt that we were very much on our own for the majority of the walk, maybe some more higher profile advertising needed?
An extra toilet or two would have been appreciated too as it was a struggle to find somewhere suitable.
Is it possible to know how much of our entry money goes to the charity too please?
Many thanks to all those who volunteered their time to make this event happen.

Inagural Run along the Basingstoke Canal and River Wey. Offering both a 25km and 32km option stopping in either Guildford or Godalming. I choose the former, alough the route was slightly longer than advertised. Well set up and organised. Could have done with a few more water stations but difficult logistically due to the course. Beautiful route. Would recommend but would be nice to have chip timing next year.

Thanks for your review Jay! The relaxed atmosphere is exactly what we were going for - hence no chip timing for this first year - but we'll certainly consider your request. :)
The 25km route was fine but the actual length is 26.5Km which was a bit tough when I had timed and psyched myself for 25km, so not a good way to finish.
Could have done with maybe an additional water station along the route.

Thanks for your review Joe. Sorry that the course was slightly longer than advertised - as people were fundraising we had to ensure that the course didn't come up short! We measured it to be a little over 25km but are aware that people using watches to measure the route on the day have recorded it longer. Hope you enjoyed the extra km of riverside sunshine. :)
Beautiful day, stunning off road course. Stopped far too often for photos! Registration process very easy, probably helped by modest numbers of runners / walkers and meant we were on our way with very little hanging about. 2 water stations with helpful and friendly volunteers en route with fruit, sweets, watermelon which were very welcome given the heat of the day. Would maybe have been good to know in advance how many water stations, where and what supplies provided to help with planning. 25k came and went which messed with our heads and legs somewhat and with the finish line nowhere in sight we feared we'd missed it! Final distance nearer 26km. Overall a pleasant and well organised event. Thanks AAT

When the scenery is that lovely, how can you not stop for photos!! Sorry for any confusion caused regarding the route distance. We measured it to be a little over 25km but are aware that people using watches to measure the route on the day have recorded it longer. Hope you enjoyed a the extra km of riverside sunshine. :) Thanks so much for your feedback Mandy.
I had a great time on this event today. A really scenic course with a good mix of terrain. Lovely and shady in parts. The route was very well sign posted. All event volunteers were really friendly. Aid stations were well stocked. All in all a great event.

Thanks for your feedback Veronica! So glad you enjoyed the event - see you at another aat-event soon.
given the temperature there could have been more water stops as there were only 2 on the course (not counting the finish at Guildford
Also the course was 26k, not 25k, and it made quite a bit of a difference at the end. I actually got confused as to whether I’d missed the finish line!
