Fantastic event, incredible crowd and atmosphere. Bag drop area, changing facilities, plenty of marshals, warmup session before the start, great medal. It was great and I would definitely do it again.

Fantastic event running the most iconic mile in London. Incredible atmosphere. A perfect race for first timer. Bag drop was a little chaotic. No idea why I was put in the first wave - fastest public wave when I put 10:30/mile so felt quite pressured with the club runner. I’d have rather be in the second wave so I wasn’t at the back the whole time feeling a bit deflated. All in all great though. And the bling is awesome.  I would definitely do it again

Great event to do with my kids and was great to relive part of VLM and an absolute bargain. Also got a selfie with Sir Mo. Great race can’t wait to go back next year

Brilliant race village in Green Park, loads of toilets and well managed bag drop. We were in a family wave so it wasn't too busy.  The finish is outside Buckingham Palace, and the medal and finishers bag were great.

This is a really good race to do with children, we loved it.

Free for the kids to enter & pretty cheap for us adults. We all got a medal & a little goody bag at the end. There were lots of photographers snapping away, lots of marshals cheering & directing.
The event village was good, could be bigger but still not too bad.
We will return next year with more friends & their kids.

For the princely sum of £8 you can run a line in London. What?

You heard!

This race is part of the Vitality London 10,000 weekend. It may only be a mule but this is a great event. Lots of different waves - schools, families, parkrun etc.

The race village was well organised (although bag drop was a bit of a shambles) and overall much better than the 10k the next day which was a complete dog’s dinner.

You start on The Mall and run around Horseguards and down Birdcage Walk, finishing in front of Buckingham Palace.

It doesn’t sound much but this is a great little event.

I won a competition with New Balance and Sportshoes.com so was gifted my place plus a pair a of trainers.

I have only ran a mile once before and was horiffic, hard work and lung busting.  I've been injured so planned only to take it easy in a steady 8 or 9 minute mile.

There are 34 waves and it all seemed organised, I managed to get on the front of my wave so had a good start.  The course is flat and has just 3 turns which aren't too sharp so a fast time is possible.

You finish and get a text straight away with your time, collect your medal, and goody bag and then onto the Vitality event village where you can spend time in green park

As a person with a mental health disability, travelling to events on my own can be a complete no no. I have no friends or family to accompany me, so from the day I enter a race to getting home afterwards can be a challenge to say the least. The Vitality Westminster Mile is an event I have watched on tv and was pleased to find out that there are races to suit everyone, not just the elites. I made the journey from the south west to London by car. I had planned my route so that I parked at a train station at the end of the M3, then travelled to the nearest underground station to the venue which was Green Park Station. Car journey was quick and easy because of the early morning start. Arrived at the station and parked easily, but unfortunately, the trains were not running because of an electrical fault. I really thought I would miss the start but knowing the direction I needed to go in and some local knowledge from a very kind gentleman, I caught a big red London bus to another station, then jumped on a tube train arriving at Green Park on the edge of St James Park with half an hour to spare! YAY! I was greeted by a large area of portaloos. The only time I ever needed the toilet as much as at that moment was after a long journey when I was 8 months pregnant!! Toilets everywhere. 11/10 for that. It was well signposted to the bag drop. Quick and easy with lovely jolly knowledgable volunteers. I headed to the start, but unfortunately that was a bit difficult to find. Signage to the start was the only thing I heard grumbles about. Anyway, still made it on time. The atmosphere was brilliant, the tannoy messages were clear, loud and informative, and of course, you would go along way to find a better venue than Buckingham Palace and St James Park. I had entered the adult race and the British Masters Mile. It was my first ever mile road race. There was a warm up on The Mall just before the start, so helped you relax and get in the swing of things. The park with the lakes and wildlife was a great place to chill. It was amazing to meet Lord Seb Coe whom started the British Masters race, and see Sir Mo Farah whom ran the first few hundred metres of the family mile races with the enthusiastic children. How great is that? Beautiful race, with lovely people and a super crowd cheering you on. I strongly recommend you give it a go whatever age or fitness level you are. I aimed to run in under 8 minutes, and thank you to the flat course and encouragement, I did that in both races. I really hope to run again in 2019.
