Hi Sophie, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really sorry to hear the event didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate you highlighting these points, and we take them seriously. That said, we do want to add some context for others reading this. We made significant improvements to our course marking this year based on previous feedback — including increased frequency and clearer placement, as well as changing material to use bright orange ribbons. The vast majority of runners this year found them clear and effective when combined with the GPX file, which we tested pre-event and had many runners using successfully. We’ll continue to explore ways to make navigation even more intuitive, especially in tricky sections. GPX files can be temperamental across different platforms, particularly if uploaded late or not synced properly — we always recommend runners load the route in advance and carry a navigation-capable device as an extra layer of support, especially in trail events where self-reliance is part of the experience. We’re genuinely surprised to hear you didn’t come across an aid station, as they were fully staffed and positioned along the course. We’ll take another look at visibility and signage for these too. It’s important to say that while your experience clearly didn’t go to plan, the overall feedback from this year’s event has been overwhelmingly positive, from the atmosphere and community spirit to the challenge and scenery. That doesn’t mean we ignore critical voices. far from it, but it’s worth painting the full picture. Trail races can be unpredictable, and we always encourage participants to come well-prepared and familiar with the route and event materials. Still, we know we can always do better, and we’ll take your comments on board as we continue to improve. Thanks again — and if you’d like to chat further, please feel free to drop us a line at sam@ultra-x.co
