what an amazingly well organised race. Course was incredibly well marked out. Aid stations were bountiful and marshals at the stations were overall very happy and very friendly.

94k was a bit grumpy "were not officially open yet". But I had the finish in sight so it didn't bother me.

course was beautiful, if a little hilly, so not for the faint hearted. But I thoroughly enjoyed.

thanks Action Challenge, you helped me break my Ultra duck.

Got to be honest, wasn't look forward to this at all. My brother signed us all up and the thought of walking 62 miles filled me with dread.

I have done Big City Marathons, Ironman , long distance swims but walking? how boring was that?

Well as it turned out, not at all. From the River Thames Start at Richmond to the Race Track at Brighton the route was stunning. Scenic, beautiful rural countryside, it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and life itself.

The terrain was more challenging than I had expected it to be (....trails, across fields, through woods, high hills and low valleys, it had it all (including plenty of styles) and adds to the challenge of the event, just be prepared for this if you are doing it.

Rest stops were frequent and spaced far enough apart so that when you arrived at them you felt like you deserved a break and extremely well stocked. Plenty of places to sit and relax for a while and an abundance of food and snacks. Kudos to the First Aiders at each one who had a parade of people coming in to be fixed up so they could be on their way again.

No good at Navigating or worried about getting lost? Don't be....the 1st time I looked at the map was after we finished! It's so well marked out, even at night (just follow the glow sticks) it's impossible to go wrong.

We were blessed with nice hot weather and this certainly added to the experience, had it been wet then it would definitely make the route more challenging.

Organisation was fantastic, can't praise it enough.

didnt think I'd like it, and am hooked.

It wont replace the adrenaline rush of a triathlon or running race but do not underestimate the achievement of doing something like this.....100k is loooooong way!

It's also a great way of spending quality time with friends and family and a great way to raise monies for charity.

Will be doing the South Coast Challenge in August and definitely returning to Brighton via London next year.

Great race, run by Action Challenge. Well organsied from sign up to completion. Cost is fair considering what they provide. The race is long (if doing 100km option - average of 11 hours running completion and up to 30 hours for walkers) and lots of in/declining hills which has a real impact on the knees and back so lots of strength training required beforehand. The terrain can be dry and uneven across cow fields and tractor divots but the majority is fine and even.

Signposted the whole way and lit up at night with glowsticks. Lots of food provided at rest stops every 13km.

The only real medical help they give is for blisters so if you think you'll need anything, take it with you (deep heat/ ibruprofen gel etc).

It's a busy race but great fun and you can take it at your own pace. Action Challenge organise a variety of ultras and internationals and are always well organised.
